Know your Worst enemies (part 1) - Who are you ANGRY at?

I regard Anger as the Worst enemy we can ever have. If you know me well, you know that how Short-tempered I have been until last couple of months, only if I knew how much my anger would cost me, I would have tried to controll it. The price I paid for my short-tempered nature has been priceless. I almost lost everything I once had!

I was a man of vengeance.I used to list people who hurt me ever assigned priorities to them to deal with them later! I maintained the lists mentally though. But I was sure about hurting them whenever I would get the chance. You know the best part - it not only took a lot of my time, a resource that can never be regained; it shadowed my creativity and clouded my judgement.

I realized how stupid I had been to hold on to Anger because I realized -

Do you know why do we get Angry? This might answer the question-

And how can we rid of Anger?

So you see, when you express your anger you actually make someone else angry... you start a chain reaction - a chain reaction which is as destructive and powerful as the Nuclear Fission Chain Reaction!!

Understanding this will help in dealing with Anger:

A few conclusions we can draw:
  • Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned – Gautama Buddha.
  • Holding onto anger and old hurts hardens your heart and hurts only you. Ask for help in letting go of the anger. Ask to see the situation through the eyes of compassion. Allow yourself to feel the lightness of forgiveness.
  •  Although forgiveness is very hard, it is necessary.

P.S. There are so many Anger Management Books out there. People are organizing anger management workshops. Although these people help, they are using it as a means of financial gains. These are some good articles on Anger, its Effect and Management:
