The Human Behaviour and Psychology–Why Criticism is harmful?

We go through college and learn Relativity, Quantum Mechanics and master the mysteries of Calculus without even discovering how our own minds function. However, the study of human behaviour and psychology is really interesting and important for us. It tells us a lot about Human Behaviour and helps us improve Human Relations. It helps us to live a better, happier, peaceful and prosperous life. It unlocks many secrets of Success. Below are a few things I have come to learn after a lot of personal experiences and reading from the books of various psychologists.

Unfortunately we, human beings, are not creatures of logic. Rather, we are creatures of emotions, creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity. As much as we thirst for approval we dread condemnation, and yet we criticize fellow beings every single chance we get!

Criticism is futile because it puts a person on the defensive and usually makes him/her justify himself. Criticism is dangerous, because it wounds a person's precious pride, hurts his sense of importance, and arouses resentment.Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, we don't criticize ourselves for anything no matter how wrong it may be.

Himanshu Bablani is one among many living examples  that tell us – “Instead of condemning people, lets try to understand them. Let's try to figure out why they do what they do. That’s a lot more profitable and intriguing than criticism and it breeds sympathy, tolerance and kindness. To know all is to forgive all."

As Dr Johnson said - "God himself, sir, does not propose to judge a man before the end of his days. Why should you and I?"
