In life don't be afraid to BE HATED.

NOTE: The below post is an Excerpt from the Convocation Speech by Adrian Tan, author of The Teenage Textbook

In life do not afraid to -

Behated

It’s not as easy as it sounds. Do you know anyone who hates you?

Every great figure who has contributed to the human race has been hated, not just by one person, but often by a great many. That hatred is so strong it has caused those great figures to be shunned, abused, murdered and in one famous instance, nailed to a cross!

One does not have to be evil to be hated. In fact, it’s often the case that one is hated precisely because one is trying to do right by one’s own convictions. It is far too easy to be liked, one merely has to be accommodating and hold no strong convictions. Then one will gravitate towards the center and settle into the average. That cannot be your role. There are a great many bad people in the world, and if you are not offending them, you must be bad yourself. Popularity is a sure sign that you are doing something wrong!

------

This is what the great Author had to say about life. And in this physical world it makes sense. However, being a Spiritual being, I think differently.

I think you should not care if you are being Hated or Loved, simply because both situations are going to affect your decisions and judgement.

Every situation in life is usually classified as either good or bad. But is it really so? Many a times a seemingly good situation results in a heart-ache and even a heart-attack! While a seemingly situation results in a Good Gain!

What I am trying to say is, one must try to get out of the mindset of 'What people think about me!'. Do what you truly love. And do it with Intention. Do it with intention of service. If you do it with intention centered to your benefit, it sure will create problems.

Whenever you are doing something REALLY SELFLESSLY, no one is going to Hate you. No One. I repeat again - No one will Hate you. But if you mix even 0.1% selfishness in your work, problems will arise, if not now, then surely later.
